Volunteer to provide the FREE Cancer Hair Care Hairdressing Ribbon Service

Our Cancer Hair Care Hairdressers experience a deep sense of fulfilment by using their expertise to make a real positive difference to people during the entirety of their hair loss journey. 

What is the Hairdressing Ribbon Service and how does it work?

Our hairdressers provide services in their salons or via their mobile services. This is called our Cancer Hair Care Hairdressing Ribbon Network. After completing the foundation course we will work with you so that you can decide what services you feel confident to offer. We will then provide you with additional, practical training so that you feel confident and supported. For example, you may like to take additional training to learn how to provide our Wig Bank service.

We ask that you can commit to a minimum of providing two ‘Hairdressing Ribbon Services’ a month. The service consists of three stages and is provided, by you, for free, to the patient. We offer you full ongoing support and training and all the information you need about how to provide the service. 

You will provide free of charge:

1. Consultation 
2. Caring cut or serviceWig Bank (for some hairdressers) or other service e.g. colour
3. Check in (usually a phone call)

If you choose to become a Cancer Hair Care volunteer you will join other highly trained UK hairdressers to deliver services in your salon, place of work, NHS hospitals and other venues. For example, our hairdressers work across a range of venues:

• In their salon
• Via their mobile service
• In NHS hospitals
• Helpline - on the phone  
• At Cancer support venues
• In the community
• Online Webinars and Workshops

We are the only charity covering all cancer treatment related hair loss issues including:

• Chemotherapy 
• Radiotherapy
• Immunotherapy
• Hormonal therapy 
• Surgery

Pledge Option 2

Hold a Cancer Hair Care Awareness and Fundraising Event

From sponsored walks to salon events, afternoon teas to sporting challenges and lots more. If you select this option of support, the fundraising team will be in touch with ideas, fundraising packs and support. We kindly ask you to commit to a minimum of £100 fundraising (within a 3 month period).

Help raise awareness and funds for Cancer Hair Care by requesting one of our support packs; which include a coin collection shaker, a poster to put up in your salon and information on how to share/follow/tag us on social media. With your help, we can be one step closer to reaching those in need.

We will support you with a fundraising pack, ideas and encouragement. Many of our hairdressers manage to raise £150 to £3000.

Our hairdressers are creative, involve their customers and have great fun with their fundraising.

Pledge Option 3

Shake the coin collector & hold a Wig themed fundraiser

We will ask you to hold one of our wig themed events and pledge to raise a minimum of £100 within 3 months. 

This is a lovely opportunity to be creative and involve customers, friends and family. There are Four Wig Themed Options:

1. Wig Walk 
2. Big Wig Cake Bake
3. Wear a Wig to Work Day 
4. Create your own Wig themed event 

We will provide you with a coin shaker and fundraising pack to support your fundraiser.

We need you! So many lovely hairdressers tick this box and really do (over time) do it all!

We provide inspiration, support, resources and the community so that our Cancer Hair Care hairdressers really can have their cake (selling a slice or two to fundraise!) and eat it. Come and join our team.
