Our Cancer Hair Care Hairdressers experience a deep sense of fulfilment by using their expertise to make a positive difference to people during the entirety of their hair loss journey. 

What is the Hairdressing Ribbon Service and how does it work?

Our hairdressers provide services in their salons or via their mobile services. This is called our Cancer Hair Care Hairdressing Ribbon Network. 

We ask that you can commit to providing a minimum of two ‘Hairdressing Ribbon Services’ a month. The service consists of three stages and is provided, by you, for free, to the patient. We offer you full ongoing support and training and all the information you need about how to provide the service. 

You will provide free of charge:

1. Consultation 
2. Caring cut or service 
3. Check in (usually a phone call)

If you choose to become a Cancer Hair Care volunteer you will join other highly trained UK hairdressers to deliver services in your salon, place of work, NHS hospitals and other venues. For example, our hairdressers work across a range of venues:

• In their salon
• Via their mobile service
• In NHS Hospitals
• Helpline - on the phone  
• At Cancer support venues
• In the community
• Online Webinars and Workshops

We are the only charity covering all cancer treatment related hair loss issues including:

• Chemotherapy 
• Radiotherapy
• Immunotherapy
• Hormonal therapy 
• Surgery

It takes just 2 minutes to enrol onto the training.

From sponsored wig walks, salon events, afternoon teas to sporting events, treks and lots more. If you select this option of support, the fundraising team will be in touch with ideas, fundraising packs and support. From £150 to £3000, our hairdressers are creative, involve their customers and have great fun with their fundraising.

Once you have completed the course we want to tell people all about you and your services.  The Cancer Hair Care Directory team will ask you for your business information to position you in the most relevant section of our directory. For example, if you are a wig supplier or specialise in colouring hair, you would be added to the relevant section of our Directory.

Raising awareness of the Cancer Hair Care charity is vital. Everyday we hear from people who say “I wish I had known about your charity as it would have been so helpful when I lost my hair during cancer treatment’. It’s always sad to think that people are missing out on support. There are many ways to raise awareness, for example, at a school fete, community event or perhaps holding a salon evening and inviting your clients and the local community to raise awareness and funds.

Help raise awareness and funds for Cancer Hair Care by requesting one of our support packs; which include a coin collection shaker, a poster to put up in your salon and information on how to share/follow/tag us on social media. Everyday we hear from people who say “I wish I had known about your charity as it would have been so helpful when I lost my hair during cancer treatment". With your help, we can be one step closer to reaching those in need.

Our charity coin shakers and posters are an ideal way to show your support to our charity. Display them on your reception desk and raise awareness about Cancer Hair Care. We will also provide you with a digital pack so that you can shout loud and proud about attending your Cancer Hair Care course and the work of the charity.
